I’d still rather have a dpi scanner than a dpi at best flatbed. A few of them can be adjusted in a dedicated window, but the choices are limited. I bought it for scanning old slides and negatives and it is doing a great job if you have the time. I believe the opinion might have been given in the Help Digital section. This item doesn’t belong on this page. It will take a lot of scans of the same image to learn how to optimize the results.

Small picture film scanner Optical resolution: The film holder keeps the film flat; important if you 7500o your own film. It also cuts down on scanning times and file sizes, which can be humongous with dpi scans, particularly those created in bit mode.
That is very interesting to hear that the Shutterbug reviewer recommends the Plustek over the Minolta.
I personally found the Silverfast software intuitive and easy to use. System Requirements SilverFast 8. I understand the new remedies that problem.

This serves to improve the dynamic range of the scan by scanning the photo twice, with different levels of analogue optcifilm applied. Maybe this scanner doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of one of the super high end and super high priced models, but for someone who just wants to archive their opticgilm photos on their own time, it performs way off the top of the charts.
As noted above, you get two different 35mm film holders along with the scanner.

Plustek i SE film scanner I love this scanner. Both are inserted through a dust-protected opening on the side of the device. The OpticFilm i – as well as the older i but not the or the – is capable of infrared scanning.
If you opt to enable the scan preview, a few of the settings can be tweaked individually with each scan but others cannot, making QuickScan cumbersome to use, which kind of defeats the very point of this feature. Awesome auto as well as manual image adjustment features. So I took approximately the same opitcfilm from the Nikon scan, and ‘uprezzed’ it to match the size of the dpi crop.
Oopticfilm is a good all round unit. Slides come out amazingly sharp and vivid. My shots are frequently hand-held under less than perfect conditions.
